The WHY of Our Program
Every August, we see the phenomenon known as “summer slump,” which is a kind of learning loss that occurs from students spending the summer not participating in any type of formal learning. They return to school a few months later, often lost, and at times, forgetful of skills they learned in the previous school year. As teachers who know what motivates young people and how children learn! We have remedied this by creating a program exclusively for K-8 students.
The WHAT
This program was developed for students K-8 to keep their brains active, and focused on skills that they either learned and want to maintain, or didn’t quite grasp over the previous school year. We also teach new skills that students will find in their upcoming school year.
We are licensed teachers who recognize and understand the summer slump (or summer slide) that occurs with many students, as they exit their education in late Spring. Our program promotes continuous learning in a fun way that keeps students engaged. We send our scholars back to school without them feeling like they lost a year during the summer. We also know how to teach children without them feeling like the learning over the summer was a chore.
The WHERE
Summer With a Teacher is LIVE and COMPLETELY ONLINE. Your student needs a device like a tablet, phone, or desktop computer with a camera and microphone to participate. A notebook and pencil are the only items your student needs to participate.
The WHEN
Our second summer session begins Monday, July 7 and ends Thursday, July 31. Class sessions are approximately 30 minutes long. K-8 students meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Pre-K students meet Mondays and Tuesdays for 30 minute sessions. There are 2 additional prerecorded sessions that Pre-K students are offered each week, if you want your scholar to participate.
The WHO
Again, this program is for students who will enter a PreK program in the 2025-2026 school year, and also for students who will enter Kindergarten through Eighth Grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
